Mason is 2!

Mason is two!!!! Boy, are we experiencing what everyone warned us about; the terrible two's are UGLY. Ricky and I are on our toes every waking second of the day. Our little baby boy gets into EVERYTHING and ANYTHING faster than we can even try to react! Not only is he fast, he's stubborn too! He NEEDS that lollipop, and he needs it now. If he doesn't get it, the world will most definitely end right then and there. Everything is so dramatic now. Ricky and I really have to think twice before we go out to eat with Mason...can we get a booth? Can it be the furthest booth from civilization? Can we eat at 4:30pm during the senior time? Should we bring the ipad to distract him? Do we bring every toy that I can possibly fit in my giant purse? Will we ever be allowed to come to the restaurant again, or will we even want to return before he's 6?! Oh its tough. We've become experts on which fast food chains have play places and which don't. We frequent Chik-Fil-A a lot! We've even done Sonic once...it was great. We all stayed in the car, even Mason stayed locked in his car seat! It was a brilliant idea of mine, I must say. We hooked up the ipad to the back of the passenger seat, and he watched Dora, ate his food quietly, and Ricky and I got to stay in the front and enjoy adult conversation! Amazing!! :)

For the past month,  Mason has been waking up between 4:30 am and 5am (closer to 4:30am...if it were 5am, we'd probably consider that "sleeping in"). We have no idea why he's become SUCH AN EARLY riser!!? He wakes up ready to go! He goes to bed between 7:30pm and 8pm every night. Oh its been tough on us...we're hoping that when we get back to school in a couple weeks, that he'll get back on his normal school year routine too!

Mason loves, and I mean, LOVES Blaze and the Monster Machine (on Nickelodeon), Paw Patrol, Curious George, and Dora! He will watch these shows over and over again!!!!!!

Mason was having ear infection after ear infection for 10 months (7 infections in 10 months). We took mason to the ENT and she put him on Singular! This drug has worked wonders!!!! Mason hasn't had an ear infection in over 3 months!!!! We're so happy, and so is Mason! :)

Mason's second birthday party was construction themed!! Mason loves all things trucks!! He's such your typical boy! Loves trucks, garbage trucks, buses, airplanes, and all construction stuff!!! We invited all of Mason's friends from Nursery, and then some! We had a huge turn out!!!! So much fun!! Ricky and I barely saw him during his party, he was running all over, playing with his friends!

Despite the craziness of having a 2 year old, we are having so much fun with Mason! He is speaking really well, both English and Spanish! It's so cute to hear and see the words he chooses to say in English and which to say in Spanish. He's so loveable, cuddly, excited, playfull, funny (he's sooo funny), and has really quite the personality! We just love our little boy sooooooooooooooooooo much!!!

Hope you enjoyed our little 2 year Mason update!!

Here are some stats over the last 6 months!

Terrible twos already?!

I'm ebarassed to say how bad I've becoming at updating my blog. But maybe I shouldn't be, I AM the full-time working mother of a raging- approaching-2-year old! When can I blog?! I've succumbed to the fact that I can only blog from my phones blogger app while Mason is taking his hour (sometimes 1.5 hour) morning nap. Whatever, it is what it is, right?! :) I'm sure several of my posts will be just picture updates anyway because our active little boy is just so cute!

Mason is a week and a half away from turning 20 months (however you'd think he was 2 based on all the mischief he gets into!)! He's got quite the personality. He LOVES water. I mean, LOVES WATER. I've never seen a kid so fascinated by something. Nor have I seen a kid so in love with "Um" (what we call fruit snacks). Mason loves to be outside, all the time. He runs almost everywhere, hates to not get his way (we're working on this, again the hints of "terrible twos" here), throws everything (working on this also), had a short bitting phase, and wants to be a big boy with EVERYTHING. Mason insists on using a big person fork, spoon, plate, cup, chair, wants to wash himself in the tub w soap, wants to walk without holding our hand, wants to do the dishes, sweeps the kitchen floor, vacuums, helps us cook, and folds the laundry.

Mason no longer uses a highchair, and says a LOT of words: gracias, agua, please, yes, this, no, mama, dada,  papa, dog, cat, truck, car, go, um, soap, hot dog, bubbles, Choo choo, sit, happy, bad, and many others.

He loves Thomas the Train, Paw Patrol (truthfully, anything with dogs), Winnie the Pooh, and Cars.

Mason has always been the BEST sleeper. We are so lucky, and we KNOW how lucky we are. He has developed the best nighttime routine. We tell him it's time for night night and he walks right into his room. We sit on the chair, read three books, then he turns off the light, I place him in bed, he closes his eyes, and he's asleep. Never any fuss. He's PERFECT (and adorable).

Ricky and I really want Mason to have a brother or sister. We're going to start the adoption process again soon and we'll keep you posted every step of the way. Of course if you hear anything, send it our way :)

More updates to come....gotta go put laundry away.. only about 40 min left in this nap.

Love, Shannon
